hahaha.. didn't want to blog coz i cant bear for the pictures to be lower down.. nvm.. i've decided i shall add a picture per entry!! heheh.. and for this entry.. the picture shall be this!!
had a real bad day at work today.. sigh.. quarrelled with my colleague..annis tay. actually it was coz of something small, but coz she was already unhappy with me, it escalated into something big.. got me so pissed coz she wouldn't listen to what i was trying to say!! kept telling me "can you let me finish what i say".. not that i didn't want to let her say her piece, but it was her who interrupted me in the first place!! grrr!!! couldn't take it man.. got so pissed and exasperated.. sigh.. big clash of personalities for the both of us, and it's like we're natural enemies.. cant stand each other.. WTH!! she shouldn't let it affect work right?? crap lah.. she's like a big ol ah lian.. ahahah.. shall try to take a pic of her someday... then you'll know what i'm talking about.. the garish clothes, thick makeup (my colleagues were speculating she uses one foundation per week!!) and ultra bad attitude.. cant stand her man.. thank my lucky stars i only have one more week to go.. wanted so much to quit today. but decided it wasn't worth it, coz of her.. haha i'm bitchy but what to do.. she's one too... *oops* unfortunately, i'm not sorry for the previous sentence. coz she really is a BITCH!! argh.. the more i think about it, the more i feel i should have slapped her.. that stupid patronising look on her face... grrr!!!!! but i shall not bother about her anymore.. oh yah.. she's the same girl who said that round the world ticket is not air ticket enquiry.. hahah.. i'll remember that forever.. hehehe.. so i say, dont step on my tail.. you'll regret it... coz i can be bitchy too..
enough of her. she's not worth my anger (or so my good friend yanni said) yah man, shall not blog about her anymore.. she's not worth the space.. lalala..
oh yesh.. i realised i have not named my dream guy.. heheh.. he's hokuto umeda.. a cute gay school doctor in the comic.. though he's gay.. he's so damn cute!!!! wahhh!!!! hahah
had dinner with diana on tuesday.. mmmmm.. still drooling at the thought of the dessert we had at baker's inn.. had to wait very long for it though, coz the waiter forgot our order.. would not be so pissed if he was cute, but no.. sigh.. the wait was worth it though.. the chocolate pudding (is that what it's called? i cant remember the name) was HEAVENLY!!!! man... i want it now!!! *grinz* it's that good.. havent had dinner with diana in a long time liao... haha used to go to the amk long john silver EVERYDAY after school.. and both of us would eat combo 1.. that lasted the last 2 years of my cedar days.. every single day... hehe.. still dont know how i managed to do it, until now.. had fun though... diana bought a blouse and skirt.. the skirt's gorgeous!! love the length, but i cant wear skirts that length.. look ugly in them.. but it looks good on diana.. =)

got an sms from lynn this morning, asked me if i wanted to join pilates.. heh.. me? i think it's too cheem an exercise for me to attempt.. shall stick to my plain jogging (yeah right!) and sit ups.. *grinz* getting fat fat fat!!! been exploring bogspot and the mysterious world of html for the past week.. found a cool site with ready made blogs plus html for html-idiots like me!!! lalala.. www.blogskins.com has nice templates!! but i'm still not very good at it... the html's mind boggling!! nvm.. dont really intend to change to blogspot anytime soon as well.. =)

serene suggested meeting up for food fest instead of sentosa... it's a damn good idea since all of us love to eat. one small detail though.. where is it held? any kind soul who happen to read this and know.. pls drop me a note or something.. please~!! haha.. for sqdmates who are reading this... pls get back to me... which is better... sentosa (when? next sat? sun?) or food fest (that is if anyone knows when it is and where..)??? reply hor! i'm waiting and waiting for replies... but not many leh..
still at that count...
anyway, i think i've just broken my own rice bowl. the other day, my boss intercommed me (work jargon) and asked me whether he should hire a permanent staff to reply email, to which i said yes.. since the attachment students more often than not screw the whole email thingy up.. after saying that, i think it was immediate regret. if they get a permanent staff, then they wont need me anymore right?? OH NO!!!!! i've just stupidly cut off my only line of holiday work... i hope my boss will still hire me in the next holiday!!!! sigh.. stupid me.. as i've told my sister... my brain and mouth doesn't seem to connect very well.. i always say things before i think.. which results in stupid stuff happening... like this.
the new girl came today.. and i was teaching her the ropes.. guess what? she's not very good.. (really!! i'm not saying it coz i'm biased.. haha) her english is not tt good, and she's very slow.. which is no good if there are many emails in a day.. the good thing that comes with this is the fact that i have very little to do today, other than coaching her and checking her emails... muahaha... its a slack day at work today... =)
i need some spark in my life.. something to get me going.. it seems like it's been quite stagnant for me, just work and uni.. quite no life if you look at it... hrmm.. was thinking of joining an eca but which to join?? hope to make my uni life a lil more fulfilling.. not just studying and home.. sigh... slacker's society president man...
oh yesh.. do you think i should buy this?
heheh.. in the bikini mood these days... should i buy?? i like it, but now i'm so flabby... must exercise!!!!! hahaha.. maybe this bikini will give me the motivation to exercise... lalalala...

oh yesh.. i just killed a stupid housefly that was trapped in my room.. i didn't know houseflies flew so quickly!! it was like zooming around my room at lightning speed (okay, i'm exageratting) even the normal flies and cockroaches do not fly that quickly.. hated the sound of it (you know, the sickening sound of a fly flying) so decided to hunt it down (yeah!) and i managed to!! but i made a fool out of myself in front of my "tutee" in the process.. but what the heck! it's dead and it will never bother me again!! muahahaha... i know i know... evil...

was supposed to meet up with lynn and company this week, and unfortunately they chose today. monday for dinner. when they know i have to give tuition on mondays and thursdays. sigh.. i dont understand them anymore. is it only me or does lynn seem to enjoy meeting up on days where i cant make it, then make it a point to talk about my absence in her blog. i know i know, she doesn't know i read her blog, so what she says is her business and it shouldn't hurt me, coz i chose to go to her blog. but it doesn't change the fact that what she says bothers me, especially when it's all not true. what about me not wanting to meet up, always absenting myself from meeting up.. it's not as if i dont want to meet up. i cant. i have prior appointments made since april (since i started teaching her anyway) and i cant just change it at the last minute.. i want to see you guys too, but time does not allow me to. sigh.. whatever. maybe i should always avoid meeting up with them. they wouldn't notice my absence anyway.
regina's back for holidays, but i just found out that her dad passed away, so i'll be going down to the wake tonight with emily. i think she needs some support right now, especially when she's trying to be brave in front of her younger brothers. knowing her, she will keep everything to herself and get sick in the process. shall try to prevent that from happening.. sigh.. her dad's quite young too, only 47. life's precious. i really hope she's all right, coz she did not sound allright at all when i called her last night. *worried* well, i'll see her tonight.
cancelled my tuition with the little girl coz of this. contridictory you say, but i reckon this is a much better reason to cancel the tuition at the last minute, rather than cancel just for dinner with friends. what do you think?

-china part 1: the tour guides & shopping-
okay.. the long awaited entry for the china trip.. well.. nothing much exciting happened.. hrmm.. maybe the thing about one of the uncles having a mild heart attack/liver infection and having to stay in Shenzhen was pretty exciting (more on that later) but okay..the trip was pretty good.. enjoyed myself trmemdously.. muahaha
here's a summary of the places we went to in the 10 days in China:
Guangzhou
Zhaoqing
Zhuhai
Shenzhen
Shantou
Nan Ao
Chaozhou
Xiamen
had 3 tour guides for the whole trip.. day 1 to 4 by a fatty (let's call him "xiao peng"), day 5 to 6 by a skinny (xiao chen), day 7 to 8 by xiao peng again,
and day 9 to 10 by a cutie called calvin (coz he likes calvin klein.. dot dot dot) hated the xiao peng coz he only spoke teochew (as favoured by the elderlies in the group) and he refused to speak mandarin to us younger people.. wonder why.. so for most of the trip, i had to use my rusty and limited teochew to understand what he was saying..
the second tour guide xiao chen was good.. spoke english, mandarin and teochew.. (explanation to the elderlies in teochew, to the younger people in mandarin and he even understood and spoke english!! how many of them can do that fluently anyway? btw, he's a uni grad) missed him sorely when he left and xiao peng came back.. (that money grabber.. bleahz.. never liked him for the whole trip)
the last tour guide when we arrived in xiamen was amusing... he spoke so quickly.. like a machine gun going off.. on and on and on until he takes a deep breath and then.. off he goes again! on and on and on and on and on.. my brother was so afraid he would forget to take a breath.. heheh it helped that he was cute and young (muahaha.. eye candy material).. this one was called xiao lee, and he had a christian name.. calvin.. why? coz he likes calvin klein (like duh right??) haha.. that moment when we found out the origin of his name was a *rolls eyes* moment.. my dad, my sis, my brother and i.. cant forget tt... =)
dont really understand why pple in china like to call themselves xiao-something.. like the 3 tour guides, xiao peng, xiao chen and xiao lee.. -.-"
is it something to do with tradition? (like deng xiao ping?? oops, shouldn't make fun of dead pple.. not to mention respected dead pple.. =P)
okay... i admit it. the last 2 days were the best coz there was a great looking eye candy.. haha. but he was such a flirt too.. you should have seen him in action with the air stewardesses, the waitresses and the other tour guides.. *shudders* he's a professional sia.. haha.
shopping was WONDERFUL!!!! heheehhee... note that the exchange rate was about S$1 to RMB$5, so the stuff there are like damn cheap!! i bought lots of stuff.. a dress for only RMB$30 (which makes it S$6.. muahaha) a pair of sandals for RMB$20 (S$4) a few tops at RMB$20-30 each (S$4-5 each!!) and best of all.. CDs (genuine, copyrighted CDs) for RMB$20 each.. that makes it about S$4 for each licensed CD!! lalalala... it was really a great shopping trip...
pple, if you're wondering what i bought for you.. heheh.. i'm not telling... a little hint though... most of the stuff's personalized, and quite unique.. no t-shirts and stuff though... =)
the best shopping done so far in the 10 days was in shantou.. where in the world is shantou anyway? it's this place near teochew where my ancestors came from.. and my grandfather loves going there to buy the dried scallops and herbs.. (he buys it by the kg!) the shopping there was so good... we spent about 5 hours shopping there after dinner...
imagine this scenario:
1 long street, with shops on both sides of the street, selling everything from clothes to shoes to medical supplies to jewellry.. few cars on the road.. not many people too. start shopping at about 730pm, walking along one side of the street only. at 10pm, still on the same side of the street but still haven't seen the end of the street yet.. decided to turn back down the other side to get back to the hotel, but kept being distracted by the shops selling oh so many stuff.. at 11pm, was met by a worried/angry looking grandfather who came looking for us.. hehe.. got a shelling for wandering along for so lang and so late.. in the end,, end up walking briskly back to the hotel, passing so many shops that sold pretty things, but too scared to go in for fear of the wrath of grandfather.. *grinz*
tt place is my recommendation man... cheap stuff, friendly (but not pushy) salesgirls.. unlike in guangzhou and zhuhai.. the salesgirls were so pushy it was irritating!! shantou pple are nice... and polite at the same time. ;P (it helps that they speak teochew there, and i can understand them, unlike cantonese in guangzhou, which i did NOT understand at all...) their teochew is very melodious too.. sounds so sing song-y and so cool to listen to.. man i was happy to be there...
some shopping tips for shopping in China:
- NEVER, i repeat NEVER EVER accept the first quoted price.. coz you can get a half price discount if you persist with your bargaining..
- Be thick skinned. they don't care
- Always bargain for about half of what they quoted. as they try to increase the price, start decreasing the price even further. (you have to be thick skinned about it!!)
- If they seem unwilling to lower the price, just walk out of the shop. Chances are, they'll grab hold of you before you step out of the shop, and sell it to you at your desired price =)
- Try not to shop at shopping centres if you want good bargains. you wont be able to bargain in shopping centres, and their prices are much higher. BUT,
it is always good to buy CDs in shopping centres, as they are usually original CDs there. outside, no guarantees.
- Always check out other shops before buying something, coz there will be the same thing selling cheaper at the next shop you come across. =)

had a very hectic saturday (19th).. and it wasn't very pleasant either..
work that day was BORING.. but then again.. what's new? hahah.. actually i shouldn't feel this way, coz it's what's keeping me sane during the long holidays.. but now it's driving me insane!! contridictory, but well.. that's just me..
went over to dear's place after work on saturday.. supposed to play mario on his comp but i ended up asleep on his sofa and waking up at 4. (supposed to meet lynn and diana to go to jill's place for her bbq party at 5 @ aljunied.. *sheepish*) rushed to take the bus and guess what?
number 1 - I was across the road waiting to cross when the bus 70 zoomed past me
number 2 - after waiting for like 15 mins, the stupid bus 70 finally came, but after driving off for less than 5 mins.. the bus started to produce beeping sounds, then it came to a STOP. WTH??? i was like late by then.. and the bus HAD to break down. crap i tell you.
so after that I took a 103 to serangoon coz i needed to withdraw money (since i had no cash with me to take a cab). then...
I couldn't find the ATM!!! the time then was like 445, and i had 15 mins to find an ATM, draw some money and take a cab down to aljunied..
not humanely possible
after asking a kind uncle at a mama shop.. i finally found an ATM, and successfully withdrew the money... =P
the next part was the difficuly part.. flagging a cab. maybe it was because of the time (about 455 then - most cabbies were changing shifts) or maybe it was coz i was damn suay, but i stood there and waited and waited and waited and tried and tried to get a cab.. but none of them stopped for me!! why? am i not pitiful enough?? the stupid bus broke down and it's not my fault!!!
then.. a kind taxi driver stopped for me and i got to aljunied.. at about 515. to face 2 slightly black faced friends-lynn and diana. well, at least i got there right? and i told you i'll be late!? i would like to remind all that by then.. i too was in a very black mood.. and it did not do anything to lift my mood.. seeing the 2 black faces staring at me..
okay... moods and black faces aside.. we made our way to jill's place after waiting for the dreaded bus 40 for 10 mins.. which makes the time then 525. i had to rush off to go to my grandma's birthday dinner by 620 originally.. so it sorta meant that i would really be staying for a while only.
things were okay at jill's place... got to see her boyfriend at last... and while she helped around the house, we were sitting in the living room,
munching on chips and salsa prepared by her.. mmmm.. the salsa was good.. haha jill pass me your recipe!! even diana, who refuses to touch vegetables, ate the salsa.. which contains tomatoes, onions, celery (i think) and what not vegetables.. the fact that diana ate it is saying something... *grinz*
spent sometime talking.. and lynn was downing orange juice + vodka.. think she was feeling thirsty bah.. haha.. had to leave at 645 to go to chinatown (of all places.. my grandma had to hold the birthday dinner near the place i was working at.. no technically it's the building opposite where i was working.. i have to go there in the day for 6 days a week, and now at night for dinner.. what the?? *rolls eyes*) nice lynn and diana walked me out to the bus stop.. and i took 135 (supposedly to paya lebar where i could take a train down to chinatown) BUT!!
my mum called and said i was late.. so i alighted and took a cab.. the driver kept talking on his hp, calling his friends and everything.. and i was in a hurry!! pissed off man.. when we turned into the road near bugis junction.. damn there was a jam... and it took all i had to not sream in frustration.. haha a little drama mama here but that was how i felt that day... like crap.
managed to reach people's park centre at 730.. and got "why are you so late" look from my dad.. but thankfully.. i did not get scolded...
yep.. lucky me indeed.. and the food was fabulous!!!! the restaurant we ate in is Tai Seng Restaurant.. and it has a good rep i heard.. judging from the large number of people eating there... not bad at all... =)
okay... enough of me ranting on about saturday already.. seemed to have a spate of really bad luck that day... well.. it's over.. just remind me never to plan so many meeting ups on the same day ever again... *grinz*

havent been blogging.. been quite dead this week.. still adjusting to working life again after a FABULOUS 10 days in China i think.. quite brain dead.. and bit of a flu going too.. so dont come near me pple... i am not to blame if you fall to the flu bug too..
actually this entry is just to let you guys know that i'm still around and kicking.. hahah.. though i seriously hope none of you thought i was gone for good *touch wood* (gone from the blog anyway) sorry!
will continue tmr.. watching a child's hope 2 now...
